The Mid-Autumn Festival
A Time for Family and Celebration
September 29, 2023
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Zhongqiu Jie (中秋节) in Chinese, is a cherished cultural celebration in Asia and among communities worldwide. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, typically in September or October. This festival is an opportunity for families to come together, share delicious mooncakes, make or carry colorful lanterns, and enjoy the beauty of the full moon.
One of the most beloved legends associated with this festival is the story of Hou Yi and Chang'e. Check the link below in the "More Resources" section to learn more about the story, which reminds us of the strong bonds of love and family, encouraging us to unite with our loved ones during this special time.
We invite our Wellan community to join us in celebrating different cultural festivities and explore the beauty of diverse traditions that make our school a vibrant and inclusive place to learn and grow!
