Fun at Wellan doesn’t end with dismissal. Our After School Enrichment programs return in full force this week with longtime fan favorites—Jr. Owls Athletics, Drama Club, Drama Tech, Ensemble, and Woodworking—leading the afternoon charge.
The Junior Owls athletic program kicked off a week early to ensure our soccer players were ready for their first match against Lesley Ellis next week. Beginner teacher and soccer coach Ray Niemi weighs in:
“One of the best aspects of this team is that, similar to the classrooms, we have multiple ages and levels present on the team. Having these differences allows for the children to learn and teach one another as we play and practice. We’ve also observed the players cheering on their teammates as we practice and run drills. We are looking forward to a great season where we all progress and develop our skills both on the field and off as considerate teammates.”
The Junior Owls soccer team isn’t alone in its incorporation of Montessori philosophy. Wellan’s Enrichment opportunities are based on Montessori principles of play, and are designed to provide an immersive learning experience focused around a co-curricular theme or area of interest. This fall, we’re proud to offer nearly 40 enrichment courses to students of all ages. From Yoga to Yearbook Design, Math Olympiad to Glee Club, Dungeons and Dragons to Fiber Arts and beyond—it’s easy to find a perfect fit for your student.
If you didn’t get your first Enrichment choice in this semester’s lottery, don't let it get you down. Stop by a game to cheer on our soccer team, come see a play or an ensemble performance, and, most importantly, get excited for next semester!
